Community Policing

Meet the team:

Hello,

My name is Chris Ward. I am the dedicated Police Community Support Officer for Cambridge Ward, but I also assist in helping to cover Meols Ward, which is where Larkfield Primary and the other schools on the site are located. 

I have worked for the Neighbourhood Policing Team based at Southport Police Station for the last 19 years and in that time I have met many children and parents attending the local schools, while I have been outside the school gates, monitoring the traffic and the safety of the children. You should expect to see me from time to time (when duties allow) outside the school for that reason and for any of you to approach me with any questions or concerns you may wish to raise.

Please don’t assume something is wrong or has happened, just because you see myself or any other officer outside the school. It’s just Neighbourhood Policing in action.

During the school year, PCSO Tom and myself will be making arrangements with the Head Teacher and teaching staff to lead some presentations to the children, that are all focused on their safety. These include programmes on stranger danger (‘Clever Never Goes’), Internet safety and a ‘How to stay Safe’ programme for Year 6 pupils, ahead of their transition to high school.  We will be presenting the ‘Internet Safety’ input to parents too, so that you all know the same information that will be passed on to your children.

We will also be making playground visits with the children, to get them used to seeing us, talking to us and knowing who we are, in case they ever need our help when they see us out in the community.

 We post some our local activity on the SEFTON POLICE page on Facebook and we are now also using the NEXT DOOR app, which is a sort of online neighbourhood watch site. NEXT DOOR allows us to post out messages to people in specific postcode areas. So it’s worth signing up to that and receiving those local updates on our activity in your area.

I look forward to seeing you all over the coming school year and please come and say ‘Hello’ when you see me or my colleagues around the school.
