New Year , New Term!

Hopefully the children have had a throughly enjoyable Christmas break and are now ready for important term ahead. Any time taken off from school now can result in the child missing important work and despite best efforts of the staff, they can not always be 'caught up' so please bare this in mind when making appointments etc. 

Our topic for this term is 'Holes' based on the book by Louis Sachar set in Texas.

We have used this book to support English in previous year 6 classes and the children poduced some fantastic work and thoroughly enjoyed working through the book so we have decided to extend the learning into other subjects.

For example, the children will learn about Rosa Parks and the American civil rights movement in PSHE; they will learn about the music of Buddy Holly and other culturally significant musicians; they will gain an understanding of the geography of America and understand its history dating back to the Native Americans. 

Please note that the children will be swimming this term and will need costumes / towels etc, on a Friday.
