R/1F Week 6
Date: 16th Oct 2020 @ 3:34pm
Wow, the weeks are flying by! It has been another busy week in R/1F. The children have continued to explore the Autumn seaon with leaf printing and following recipes in the mud pit. We have been learning the nursery rhyme 'Five current buns' and some of the children have had chance to bake their own-we will continue this next week.
In maths, we have practised our counting skills, matching each number to an object and adding 1 more or taking 1 away. The Year 1 children have been comparing groups of objects and deciding which has more and which has less. A 'School Jam' (see Home Learning card) task has been set today, so please log on and complete the activity with your child. We are impressed with the confidence demonstrated by the children in phonics with lots of children keen to attempt to read simple words. The letters the Reception children have covered so far are s,a,t,i,m,n,o,p. In Year 1 the children have been learning j,w and z and next we will be starting; ff, ll, ss and zz.
Reminder- school starts at 8.45am and we crack on with Maths activities as soon as we enter the classroom. Reading books and diaries are to be returned each Friday please. Please check your child's bookbag for a letter about next week because we are doing things slighty differently.
Have a great weekend!
