We had a very exciting afternoon in 3L today! After learning about the mummification process, we decided to make our own mummies (unfortunately we had to use tomatoes as we had no willing volunteers in class!).
This is what we did:
1. Firstly, we washed the body in water from the River Nile and special oils.
2. Then we cut open the body and pulled all the organs out. We made sure we kept the heart inside because the Egyptians believed the heart was very important in the afterlife.
3. Next, we filled the body with some special salt.
4. Finally, we wrapped the body in bandages and coated it in salt. We will leave it for 4 weeks to mummify.
We can't wait to see the final result!
