4M 2019 - 2020
I am from Liverpool and have been teaching for 14 years on two continents. I can't wait to teach my new class.
I am excited to begin my 6th year here at Larkfield, back where I started, in 4M getting your children ready for the demands of UKS2.
Reading & Spelling
Your child should be reading at home every day/night (including weekends and holidays) and talking about what (s)he has read. I will also be expecting some written work on their books. This can be just a short synopsis or book review (found in the back of the reading record), poster etc.
Spelling words will be given on a Fridayday for a test the following Friday. Spelling Frame is an excellent online tool for learning those tricky words.
By the end of the year, all Y4 children are expected to know the times tables facts (to 12x12) and how to use related facts to help them solve more involved problems. Please support your child by practising these especially if they are still not fluent. Times Table Rockstars is a great way to do this.
Our topic for this term is The Stone Age. See if there are any programmes on TV or books you could read together.
... will now be on a Tuesday and children will need their full kits in order to participate. Long hair must also be tied back please! P.E. will often be outside so children may wear tracksuits or similar. These do not have to be in school colours. I would advise that PE kits only need be taken home every half term (unless they get wet or dirty).
Swimming will be on Friday in the spring term.
